I spent most of my life teaching elementary school in Sarasota, Florida—over 30 years. I loved teaching, and I enjoyed teaching my children to write. When my students were troubled by something I encouraged them to journal.
In 1997, our ten-year old son, Chris, was diagnosed with leukemia. So I took my own advice and began journaling. This became my first book, "Christopher's Journey." Chris did not survive his four year battle with cancer. Before Chris passed the Lord produced an amazing transformation in him. As Chris's body grew weaker we saw his faith and courage grow stronger. This began my deeper walk with God.

Along the way our family struggled with marriage problems, teenage rebellion, addiction, financial loss, and in 2015, the death of our second son, Jarrod. He was 21 and he died suddenly in an accident. One of his last acts on earth was a fish fry for the homeless.

So, you see, I have become an expert in overcoming adversity and maintaining my faith and my positive outlook. How do I do it? Well, that's what my blog "Journeys of the Heart" is all about.
My posting schedule is twice a month, and I hope that you can join me in my journey. I welcome your comments and questions. To subscribe to my blog fill out the email form at the right.
